Lancôme Visionnaire (LR 2412) Advanced Skin Corrector
is a skin correcting serum designed to transform skin; the texture feels refined, wrinkles appear reduced, pigmentation irregularities are reduced and pores are tightened. The result of a 12-year research program, the customised formula is developed around the specific qualities of the LR 2412 molecule, a version of jasmonic acid – a compound known to be involved in repair and defence in a wide variety of plants, signalling to genes that repair is needed. LR 2412 is a physically altered version of jasmonic acid that has the physical properties to pass through the epidermis and into the dermis, meaning it can have multiple effects on the skin. LR 2412 seems to work by speeding up the renewal of cells by increasing activity at the base of the dermis, and increasing the synthesis of fibrillin (crucial to skin looking firm and youthful, which is lost when skin is damaged, e.g. by the sun), in the uppermost part of the dermis. It does not cause skin flaking or redness as retinol can, is four times more bioavailable (meaning it can get into the dermis better) and in independent tests, was shown to be equally effective.
